What to Send to the University Archives
The Archives and the University Museum collect materials of historical value which document the mission and activities of the University and its component parts. If you have a question concerning your files or just individual items, please call us for advice.
Items of historical value and should be sent to the Archives:
- department correspondence, and similar material
- memos, minutes of meetings, notices of meetings, and similar material
- department publications, hand-outs, fact sheets, and similar material
- department promotional materials, newsletters, and similar material
- budgets, planning documents, and similar material
- items and materials of historical value
Items with an informational life-span and should be disposed of:
- personnel records, vacation and time-off requests, grievances, and similar material
- invoices for supplies, and similar material
- payroll slips, and similar material
- magazine articles, publications not from UNH, and similar material
- student records, and similar material
The Archives reserves the right to dispose of materials transferred to the Archives. We will contact the originating department to discuss the disposal of confidential or personnel materials, such as grievances, employment actions, and so forth.
If you need selected materials more than twice a year, we will return them to you.
