History:
Eric T. Huddleston received his architectural education at Cornell in 1910. In 1914, at the age of 26, he became the youngest department head in the history of UNH when he accepted the offer from President Fairchild to inaugurate a Department of Agriculture at the State College and to be its first supervising architect. When he arrived in Durham there were only eight buildings on campus. He designed 17 more and renovated five others, becoming the person most responsible for the appearance of UNH's central campus. The architect degree program at UNH lasted 22 years (1917-1944) and graduated 130 men and women.
