History:
The University Senate at the University of New Hampshire was begun in 1937. The Senate consisted of faculty members from each of the departments on campus. Student representation was approved in 1968 and 25 students took their seats in January of 1969. The structure of the University Senate was reorganized in 1977 and became the Academic Senate with 50 faculty members, 10 undergraduates, 8 administrators and 5 non-voting professional, administrative, technical (PAT) staff members.
Scope and Content:
This series contains the minutes of the meetings for the University Senate and its successor the Academic Senate. It also contains records of the various Senate committees as well as general correspondence.
