This series contains films created by the UNH Office of Public Information. Many of them were shot by Clement Moran using 16mm film. They have been converted onto VHS. They cover a variety of campus events from the 1930's and 1940's.

Footage of the Specialized Training and Reclassification Unit (STAR) on campus during 1943. This tape shows them in class, marching on camps, and going through physical training at Cowell Stadium.

Footage of the May Day Celebration from 1933. Includes May Day Nymphs and several dances as part of the pageantry. Phoebe Graham (Class of 1933) was crowned May Day Queen. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hood were guests of honor.

T9 Mother's Day (May 17, 1941)

On May 17, 1941, UNH celebrated Mother's Day as well as the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the institution in Hanover, NH. The celebration included a Ben Thompson impersonator who rode on in a horse drawn carriage and recited his will to his attorney. This tape is an interview conducted by Dave Garoway of the "Today Show" in 1960. He interviewed Charles E. Stillings (Class of 1900), who had recently given the University of New Hampshire $228,000.00. Stillings had spent his life working for the railroads and had amassed a small fortune. This interview discusses Stillings' life and his donation to the University of New Hampshire.

Although this tape is titled May Day 1935, it contains no footage of a May Day pageant. There are scenes from alumni day, class day exercises and commencement. There is also footage of Lewis Fields, campus buildings and downtown Durham.

This tape shows a number of snow sculptures built by the fraternities and soroities. There is also shots of an ice hockey game being played on the outdoor hockey rink.

T19 Horseback riding and compus construction, 1944

This tape shows a horseback riding class in session, led by Evelyn Browne of the women's physical education department. Completely unrealted is footage of walls for an unknown building being lifted into place with a crane.

T20 Hockey Rink Dedication, 1955

This tape is of the dedication of the Harry C. Batchelder outdoor hockey rink. The rink, with artificial ice, was made possible by a gift of ice-making equipment from Harry C. Batchelder, Class of 1913.

T23 UNH Historical Films With Jere and Jean Chase

These tapes are of Jere and Jean Chase watching and narrating historical UNH film footage from this series. This tape ran on NHPTV as part of fund raising activities for public television in December 1993. The film footage was used by "New Hampshire Crossroads" in their production of The University of New Hampshire: A Centennial History.
