Correspondence
The first chapter in the story of The
Boy Made of Meat takes place during the early 1960's. Louis Untermeyer
hoped to include the poem in an anthology of children's poetry. Untermeyer and
W. D. Snodgrass exchanged letters, in which Untermeyer suggested a few changes
to The Meat Boy. Snodgrass accepted
some and rejected others. This section includes the correspondence
between Untermeyer and Snodgrass and a draft of the poem. It appears in its
original form under the title The Meat Boy.
This section consists of correspondence between Untermeyer and Snodgrass as well
the first draft of the poem.
