Dorothy Prescott was the founder and principal benefactor of the New Hampshire Library of Traditional Jazz. An original member of the Boston Jazz Society, Dot, along with her husband Sam, had amassed a record collection of 2000 78s and 3000 LPs by the time of Sam's death in 1977. This collection, along with Jim Weaver's collection (see below), comprised the original holdings of the New Hampshire Library of Traditional Jazz.
Joan Coe
Of Manchester, CT. Donated her late husband’s collection of 908 78s and 256 LPs, catalogued in a most unusual manner.
Sherry Cullimore
Of New Durham, NH. By request of her late husband, William Cullimore, a founder of the Seacoast Jazz Society, she donated his historically developed collection of 544 CDs.
Roger T. Coffey
Of Acton, MA. Donated 1600 78s and 150 LPs.
Achilles R. DeLellis and Albert Publio
These residents of East Boston have donated a number of
black and white photographs of musicians including some jazz greats.
Margaret Foreman
Of North Berwick, ME. At the request of her late husband, William Foreman, she donated his highly diverse collection of nearly 12000 LPs.
Richard Hale
Former president of the Boston First Federal Savings & Loan Association, Hale willed his collection of 3000 78s and 2700 LPs to the library, along with 950 books on traditional jazz.
Walter McKay
Of Belmont, MA. A small, well-organized and maintained collection of 78s that were part of the original donation
Doris Schmidt
Another Boston Jazz Society member, she and her husband were active in promoting live concerts in the Milton, MA area. She donated 2500 78s and 230 LPs to the library.
Alvah Sulloway
Of Kittery Point, ME. Donated 4000 78s, and a sheet music collection of about 1000 World War I/II songs and 12000 other songs, many related to Broadway shows spanning the period 1910–1950.
James Weaver
Also a member of the Boston Jazz Society, his 2000 78s formed a significant part of the original donation. He now lives in Sarasota, FL.
